I wish I’d checked google reviews before my order. I used to frequent Sam’s about 12 years ago. I just moved back to the area and was so excited to order again…expecting food I remembered.
The Greek salad was a joke. All iceberg with one tomato slice and two cucumber slices. Maybe a bite of cheese scattered over. Greek fries had the same amount of cheese and no other toppings. Gyro was okay just meat with some tzatziki. The pita provided for our hummus was just a bag of store bought pita…that was the worst for me. At least, please take it out of the bag, warm and repackage!
I hope they take poor reviews into account. They used to be the best!
I stopped over here for lunch the other day and ordered a whole spicy gyro, and when I tell you this is the best thing since sliced bread, I mean it! It was so juicy and meaty (pause) the spices and that fresh cucumber sauce just goes together beautifully. I portion of fries could be a little bigger, but I’m not complaining. Now that I’m thinking about it, I just may head back up there to grab dinner tonight
Like others, the salads are an embarrassment to the establishment. Literally one slice cucumber, iceberg lettuce and single slice tomato. For almost $10. Being cheap just cost you a customer that just moved to the neighborhood. Frustrating when hungry.
Consistently one of our favorite spots to get takeout- love Sam’s Plate, the falafel sandwiches, and the Greek fries! Seriously some of the best falafel I’ve ever had- would love to see them get more business, they deserve it!
I walk by here a lot and never really see people in here (and I saw wildly inconsistent reviews) so I decided to give it a try for lunch one day. Honestly, its pretty good. Nothing earthshattering, but if you want a fast, cheap gyro place with good portions and tasty food this is your place. I paid 7.50 (before tip, after tax) for a, frankly, gigantic chicken gyro wrap that I scarfed for lunch. It was well seasoned, not too greasy, an abundance of onion, tomato, and cucumber, and loaded with meat. Again, this is your quintessential fast gyro place. The food is tasty, its cheap, and you get plenty of it. If I have any criticism its that I probably wouldn't eat-in, as its a bit dingy inside, but who eats-in at a gyro place anyway? Again, I have seen that some reviews are very very critical of this place, maybe it depends on who is staffed - but I had a pretty good experience. Next time I have a gyro craving I'll probably stop by.
Incredibly friendly customer service. Staff was helpful and patient with me as it was my first time trying gyros. He also threw in two falafels so I could try them. Food was really good and I’d definitely recommend this place to others!
A neat little Gyro shop in the heart of the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood. They make some pretty decent gyros and the service was nice and friendly too.
They don’t seem to be getting much business so I’m thankful we made it here.
Overall, if you’re a gyro person and you’re in the area, this place is worth checking out.
I hate to leave this review but from my experience, the food was mediocre. The taste of my meal lack luster. Overall it was over price. The portions wasn’t bad.Sometimes places like this may have good food that’s why I tried it. Also, because of the location I assume the food was good. The establishment looks very discouraging, old , and dirty. It was worth a shot but I surely won’t be returning.
